RUNWAY SAFETY AREA IMPROVEMENTS AT NORTH FIELD, OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – OAKLAND, CA

This $44 million project consisted of the completion of the North Field’s Runway Safety Area Improvements, improvements necessary for compliance of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) RSA mandate. The work included removing existing pavement and existing drainage infrastructure; surcharge preloading, wick drain installation and settlement monitoring at runway blast pads; stabilizing RSA soils and re-grading the RSA and portions of the Obstacle Free Areas to meet FAA standards; grinding placing aggregate base; furnishing and installing asphalt construction of Runway Safety Area Improvements, installing an Engineered Materials Arrestor System (EMAS), furnishing and installing runway and taxiway markings; relocating vehicle service roads; removing existing electrical duct banks, cables, and electrical equipment; constructing new electrical duct banks, Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (MALSR), and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) upgrades; furnishing and installing fiber optic cables; constructing airfield electrical system modifications and improvements; and furnishing and installing airfield lighting control upgrades and airfield lighting improvements.

TAXIWAY C EMERGENCY PAVEMENT REPAIR AT NORTH FIELD, OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – OAKLAND, CA

The work on this emergency contract with the Port of Oakland included demolishing and removing existing pavement; earthwork; placing subbase, aggregate base and Portland cement and asphalt concrete; replacing storm drain lines; installing new subdrain system; and installing new airfield lighting and signage.
